Fashion Killa: Erykah Badu new face of Givenchy!

Riccardo Tisci is the master mind behind the latest looks of Givenchy. Tisci has now cast fashion forward artist Erykah Badu as the new face of Givenchy's spring 2014 line.

With the talks of the fashion world having too much homogeneity Tisci has been very influential with giving more African American men and women the opportunity to shine in the fashion world. He's discovered models such as Joan Smalls and Maria Borges. Not only does he give all races a chance he's featured an albino model as well as transgendered. Tisci wants to show that himself as well as Givenchy love all people no matter race or orientation.

In an interview Tisci shared his feeling on the recent dislikes of designers not using men and women of color.
"There was a lot of talk this season in fashion,I was one of the persons who ended up not being touched by this. I've always been supporting them. For me, I grew up in a family and I grew up in a culture, an education, that we are all the same. "

I love Riccardo Tisci he's an amazing designer and he's not afraid to stand on his own. Hopefully designers will see what Tisci and Givenchy does and they'll follow suite. Fashion is for everyone not just one sex, race or orientation.

Bow Down: Beyonce's 5th album #1 in 100 countries!!

 

Beyoncé's self titled 5th album is #1 in 100 countries. Yes in one day this really happened she set the bar to space and no ones reaching it any time soon. When asked at a press release why a secret album Bey says

“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it, I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”

Beyoncé's Mrs. Carter World Tour is coming to an end December 22, but don't worry if you missed out, she will be back on another world tour in 2014 for the new album! The first singles off the self titled album will be "Drunk in Love" feat hubby Jay Z and " Blow " produced by Pharrell Williams. The single "XO" written by The Dream and Ryan Teddar, which is the video she shot in Coney Island will be released later next year.

Should Paul Walkers character remain in F&F7 ?

 

It's sad that the saying the show must go on is the truth. The Filming for Fast and Furious 7 was already in production during the time of Walkers death. With only half the movie done and majority of the remaining scenes Walker was to play in, there's no word of what writers plan to do with his character due to his untimely death.

Paul Walker died at the age of 40 over the thanksgiving weekend. Walker is most known for his role as Brian O'Conner in the Fast and Furious franchise. Walker along with a friend driver Roger Rodas were burned alive after the car they were riding in crashed into a nearby tree and caught fire.

They're holding off with the remainder of filming while everyone mourns Walkers death. This also gives writers time to come up with the changes for the story line with his character. Walkers parents say they want his character to remain in the film that's what he would have wanted.

When you think of Fast & Furious you think of Paul Walker. There's no reason why talks of taking the character out all together should be spoken of. There's ways to change things around, that's what makes a good writer. It should be an entertaining and respectful solution to the sudden departure of the Brian O'Conner character. Fast and Furious 7 was set to be released July 11th 2014. No word on if that date will be changed.


Paul Walker loved cars and he love speed the irony in how he was taken away. My condolences to the family Walkers parents, his girlfriend and his only daughter Meadow. RIP

Surprise: Beyonce releases visual album!

 

It all started earlier this week when Beyonce released a sneak peek video to her Grown Woman track. I'm guessing she heard the whines and cries from her lovely beyhive for more! We've been waiting patiently for new music and videos. Last night night via Instagram she announced her surprise! A new visual album with 14 songs and 17 videos.

The LP is self titled Beyonce, it includes features from of coarse hubby Jay Z, Drake , Franck Ocean, Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche and special feature with baby girl Blue Ivy. This is her 5th album release since going solo after group Destiny's Child went their separate ways.

This was a lovely Christmas present from King Bey. Its usually sad for other female artist while she's busy. No one would've thought while touring she's making an album and shooting videos. Beyoncé is currently still on her Mrs. Carter World Tour, making her second rounds in the US for those fans who missed her summer dates. She'll be at Barclays center for the 4th time this year December 19th, she's making one more stop in Boston at TD Garden then ending the tour once again in Brooklyn on December 22.

RIP Nelson Mandela

Former President of South Africa and activist Nelson Mandela passed away Thursday at the age of 95.

The current President Jacob Zuma gave a statement to reporters "We will always love Madiba for teaching us that it is possible to overcome hatred and anger in order to build a new nation and a new society," President referred to Mandela using his clan name shared by his countrymen.

Mandela will be buried in a state funeral on Sunday, December 15, in his ancestral hometown of Qunu in the Eastern Cape province in a state funeral. The official memorial service is taking place Tuesday in First National Bank Stadium in Johannesburg.

To pay respects to his work as President from Wednesday through next Friday, his body will lie in state at the seat of government in Pretoria, where he served as president.

Nelson Mandela was an amazing leader for his people as well as others. Mandela is an inspiration to all advocates and his legacy will live on forevermore. As President Zuma said " Long live Madiba"

December 1st : World AIDS Day

December 1st is World AIDS Day. This day is to spread awareness and for people worldwide to come together to fight against HIV and AIDS. Works AIDS day was the first recognized global health day. It began in 1988.

Currently there are 100,000 people living with HIV in the UK and an estimate of 34 million globally with HIV. 25 million people have died from this disease between 1988 and 2007 making it the most destructive virus in history.

Take the time out to teach tokes younger than you about the risk and dangers of HIV and AIDS. Remember to practice safe sex and and to get tested every 6 months.

To show support and awareness you can wear a red ribbon. The AIDS walk is held yearly all over the world. The New York City walk is held the 3rd Sunday of May.


RIP to those who've lost their lives to this deadly disease we will continue to fight for a cure.

LHHNY : Messier than Ever!

 

Love & Hip Hop NY is back and more messier than ever! The season
started off introducing the new cast members which some have you
questioning why? They're bringing the drama so one can't complain. K.
Michelle has relocated to the big apple I can't wait to see what she
has in store for this season.

New to the LHHNY cast is Peter Gunz father of Cory Gunz known for his
'90s hit "Uptown Baby".  Saigan the underground rapper that looks like
producerJus Blaze he appeared on Entourage for a few episodes.
Of coarse with the men come the ladies in their life, Peter has a
family 2 sons by his girlfriend Tara yet his in love with his artist
Amina Buddafly. Saigon has a weird relationship with his sons mother
Erica. The paternity is up in the air he wasn't sure if he's actually
the father but

The returning cast members are of coarse Yandy Smith, Mandeecees is
still locked up and could be facing a minimum of 20 years! Surprised
but not surprised Joe Budden and Tahiry are back together , they truly
come across as soul mates I hope Joey doesn't mess things up. Erica
Mena is back still acting up only she's full on lesbian now. Rich
Dollars is back and thank the heavens Olivia is not besides her voice
everything was a bore she needed to go 2 seasons ago!

LHHNY is airing now as we all know now the filming ended long ago. The
drama that happens once the cameras go off is as juicy as what they
captured. We have to wait to see if the rumor mills are true about the
cast members but no matter how much they try to spice the original
LHHNY, the Atlanta cast has them beat! I live for some Joseline and
Stevie J. Either way Mona Scott Young is winning as well as Vh1. I'm
ready for the reunion already!

Lil Wayne Retiring from Hip Hop?!

Who remembers back in 2011 when Lil Wayne said he would retire at the age of 35? Well he's sticking to his word, in an interview with Katie Couric Wayne shares his plans of retirement!

Wayne's main focus is spending time with his children once he's retired. When asked by Couric if he thought he would be able to retire so soon, Wayne said, "Oh I know I'll be able to retire at 35 because I am so ready to retire now."

Wayne lights up with joy speaking of his four children (1 girl and 3 boys ) and how he wants them to live their lives! "Whatever they want to be, whatever they want to do," Wayne said about his children. "I don't want to have no influence on 'Hey you must do this, hey you must do that,' because I didn't have that. Because I didn't have that I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be and how I wanted to be. I want that for all of my kids."

Some might feel like 35 is young to retire from music when you've worked as much as Lil Wayne alil break won't hurt. Weezy said in an interview with Hot 97 "This is what happens when you work very, very hard," "People think that when you say you work hard, they think you put two extra hours in. This is my life. That's why retiring at 35 would be a life lived, because this music thing is my life. So retiring at 35 would be enough."

Lil Wayne released his latest album, "I Am Not a Human Being II," in March. Which made #2 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold. Recently Wayne head lined his Amerikas Most Wanted tour and he just dropped his 5th gangster grills mixtape with DJ Drama Dedication 5. Wayne has said that his retirement should start after the release of his forthcoming album "Tha Carter V." There's been no word on his plans for that album release! "Tha Carter IV" was released in 2011.

12 year Anniversary 9/11/01 Never Forgotten

Today marks 12 years since our country and the World Trade Center was hit in a terrorist attack. The thousands of people who lost their lives this day in 2001 will never be forgotten. All the rescuers who risked their lives to save another will never be forgotten. 

The memorial services are held at the Freedom Tower. All the family and friends of those taken on this day get the chance to come together and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. 

This day is extremely mournful for all Americans. No matter your social status, background, race, profession, sex you can relate to September 11th. I can remember this day 12 years ago like it was yesterday. Though the tragedy didn't hit close to home just the possibility makes you appreciate life and your family so much more. 

I salute and thank all the Police officers, Fire men  EMT workers, and volunteers who came out to help on September 11, 2001. Some lost their lives trying to save another. Your services will forever be remembered. 

Sleep in Peace to everyone we lost on 9/11/01 Gone but Never Forgotten.

Serena Williams wins 5th US Open!

Serena Williams wins her 5th US Open and 17th Grand Slam! Serena was having a hard time at first After one miss, she said "I can't play in this wind." After blowing a big lead and dropping the second set, Williams chucked her racket toward the sideline, and it bounced back onto the court.

As always Williams pulled herself together to get the victory. She beat Azarenka in one if the longest tennis finals since 1980! Though this is her 5th win its also a repeat having won last year against Azarenka also.

This win puts Serena's Grand Slam singles title count to 17 which is the sixth-most in history, one shy of Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert. Williams collected a $3.6 million prize, including a $1 million bonus for producing the best results during the North American summer hard-court circuit leading up to the US Open.

She also became the first woman to top $50 million in career earnings. Her $50.9 million total is $22.1 million more than sister Venus, who is second on the list at $28.8 million.

With former president Bill Clinton among the crowd of 23,584 in Arthur Ashe Stadium, and of coarse older sister Venus in a front-row seat, its safe to say   America was the fan favorite. 

"I definitely felt the love," Williams said, "so thank you all so much for the support."

Beauty Tip: Get rid of Dark Circles

Many people including myself suffer from dark circles around your eyes. It can be extremely annoying. Dark circles affect everyone of all races. No one is exempt! 

The cause for dark circles varies from rubbing the eyes, insomnia allergies, excessive drinking, lack of exercise, too much sun, gluten intolerance, nasal congestion, smoking and poor diet. In order to get rid of your dark circles, You first need to know the cause then choose the antidote to get your skin to back to normal.

Step 1: Determine the cause 

Step 2: Refrigerate a cucumber for at least and hour before use. Cut cucumber horizontally into 1/4 inch slices. Dampen a wash cloth, Place cucumber slice over each eye, lay the dampened cloth over the forehead and recline the head or lay down for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 3: Refrigerate tea bags over night and place them over your eyes in the morning for about 15 minutes. 

Step 4: Clear out the sinuses with a saline solution. Mix 8 oz. water with a 1/4 tsp. sea salt or 1/2 tsp. baking soda. Tilt the head over the sink so that one nostril is parallel to the sink. Pour the solution down the nostril facing up until the water exits the nostril parallel to the sink.

Step 5:Consume essential vitamins such as B6 to help the adrenal glands function. Eat greens for calcium and magnesium, specifically cabbage and spinach. Eat a lot of fruit and veggies, cut back on salt and drink 8 glasses of water daily. 

Step 6: Apply eye creams that contain vitamin K and retinol, as dark circles are thought to be caused by a vitamin K deficiency.  Such creams may reduce puffiness and discoloration over prolonged usage. 

I hope this was helpful to anyone like me. We all want to look our best and it takes work to do so. Remember get at least 7 hours of sleep, Relax more and stay beautiful!

Congratulations: Eva Marcille is pregnant!!!

My idol Eva Marcille aka Eva Diva is expecting her first child! Eva was supporting boyfriend Kevin McCall at the BMI awards when she announced to BET she's 5 months pregnant!! 

Marcille is filled with joy when she spoke with BET on her new journey in life  "Being able to bring a life into the world is every woman's dream but for me it's more than just a dream it is a magical, mystical journey which I get to share with this amazing man." Eva made sure to add, "Kevin is the only man who I would share this moment in life with." 

Eva is most known for winning season 3 of Americas Next Top Model. After winning Eva continued modeling and went on to acting in movies, sitcoms and soap operas,she does it all! This fall Eva will guest star on the next season of "Real Husbands of Hollywood."

Eva is a good place she continued to express "My life continues to be a bundle of incredible experiences. I get to do this incredible show on BET and I get to be a mom and live this amazing life that God has bestowed upon me. Who could ask for anything more?"

I'm beyond happy for my Eva Diva, I've loved her since ANTM. Im happy for her the career is doing well and shes finally with a good guy. Congrats to Kevin and Eva I know they'll be great parents.

Lil Wayne's Dedication 5 pushed back: Sorry for the Wait!

Lil Wayne has everyone watching the clock, he's dropping his 5th Dedication mixtape hosted by DJ Drama titled of coarse Dedication 5. 

Dedication 5 was set to be released sometime this week. Instead of fans being able to download the album we've been getting pushed back news. 

Most people became a fan of Wayne after his freestyles and features. Amongst all of his mixtapes he's done fans favor his series of Dedication. Which is why their waiting so anxiously

They've released this statement via Youngmoney.com 

"The release of Dedication 5 has been temporarily postponed for a short period while Wayne puts finishing touches on it - including another new song. Stay tuned for an update." 

Everyone knows Dwayne is my favorite rapper in the world. You can't rush greatness. Seriously this is the second time he's had fans waiting Dedication 4 was pushed back also. New Music: Big Sean Hall of Fame

Big Seans sophomore LP Hall of Fame dropped earlier this week. His debut album Finally Famous reached number 3 on the charts, not bad for your first go round! The question is can he do it again? 

Hall of Fame is a 15 track LP featuring singles "Fire" and "Beware" feat Lil Wayne and Jhene Aiko. Kendrick Lamar's Control verse hype almost overshadowed the release of the album. Big Sean freely released Control after it didn't make the album. Kendrick's verse is a distant memory now!, all the buzz is about Big Sean's new LP. 

Any artist can have a great debut album but your follow up is what determines your place in the game! Big Sean is letting everyone know he's here to stay, the title says its all. Having Kanye as your boss probably has something to do with it, Good music always provides top notch work. Now we wait for the first week sales!

Danity Kane Reunited!!

Tonight during the Video Music Awards red carpet Danity Kane announced their reuniting! Interesting right ? The group has finally decided to return to the music game minus one member. D. Woods will not be apart of the reunion there's no word on why or if this will change.

I know you're wondering if Diddy has something to do with this, but when asked about him they said its on their own terms this time. Aubrey added Diddy always finds his way around, as we know he would love to make an appearance in a video or a track. It seems as far as business it's safe to say Danity Kane has learned from their mistakes of working with Mr."Take that".

The ladies of Danity Kane look good Dawn has a new face, Shannon has a new cut & got rid of that wack ass husband, Aundrea lost weight and Aubrey is just Aubrey. They got that mind right idk about money right but they're ready for war! I've been waiting for them to get back together the game is missing a good girl group.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards Live from Brooklyn!!

MTV's 2013 Video Music Awards will take place right in the heart of Brooklyn, NY at The Barclays Center. This will be the first time a major award show will take place at The Barclays Center. 

This award show is going to be a night to remember! This is the 30th anniversary of the VMA's! The moon man has gotten a makeover by Brooklyn artist KAWS. There's many surprises in store, the producers of the show says there's things even they don't know about! 

Moon mans new look! 

They'll be performances from Kanye West, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Macklemore & more. Katy Perry is apart of the surprises doing a special performance in a famous Brooklyn location. Theres rumors of N'sync reuniting and gracing the stage but there's been no confirmation on it. 

The questions we always want to know during any award show will the King and Queen be in attendance (Jay and Bey )that's something will have to wait and see also. I can't believe it's the 30th anniversary of the Video Music Awards time has flew. New York City is already popping but even more so now having the awards right in Brooklyn NY!

Kanye reveals baby North on Kris Jenner show!

Shockingly Kanye West was a guest on the season finale of Kris Jenner's show today. It was as good as it could be, we all know Ye was just doing Kris a favor. The interview did allow viewers to see a different side of Kanye other than what the media portrays. Fans mostly tuned in with the hopes of finally getting a glimpse of baby North West.

OMG: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake!

There will be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remake! They've been filming this summer in New York City.

It'll be the remake of the original showing how the turtles change into human form and are then trained in jujitsu by Master Splinter. When Splinter is kidnapped by an old enemy Shredder the ninja turtles must use what they've learned and go save him! 

Theres a few stars we know in the cast. Megan Fox will play April O'Neil, William Fichtner as The Shredder, Whoopi Goldberg as Bernadette Thompson, Will Arnett

as Vernon Fenwick and Danny Woodburn as Splinter. 

Playing the ninja turtles are Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games) as Raphael, Noel Fisher (Shameless, Twilight) as Michelangelo, Jeremy Howard (Sydney White ) as Donatello and new comer Pete Ploszek as 

Leonardo. 

If you know me you know I'm a huge Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. They're the reason I love pizza its real, from lunch boxes, toys, book bags you name it I had it! I'm very excited about this remake I'm hoping its done right! 

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is set to be released August 2014.

Queen Latifah back on day time TV!!

Queen Latifah is coming back to your television screens. No living single isn't coming back she's doing the talk show thing again. Not many remember Queen had a day time talk show in the late 90's early 2000's on Fox 5. It was short lived having only 2 seasons. 

"The Queen Latifah Show" will now air on CBS and is produced by Queen, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. Queen will incorporate her comical and musical side into her hosting. 

The Queen Latifah Show will have the typical celebrity guest, musical performances, interest topics. The switch from Fox 5 to CBS is for the best almost every prime time network has syndicated talk shows except CBS. 

I enjoyed the original Queen Latifah show, I don't mind her trying again. I mean if Kris Jenner has a show Queen Latifah can definitely bring hers back ! I've been fan of Queen Latifah since Ladies First so I always support my Khadijah. 

The Queen Latifah Show premieres September 16th 9AM on CBS.

Lee Thompson Young commits suicide :(

Former Disney star Lee Thompson Young was found dead Monday morning, with what appears to be a self inflicted gun shot wound. 

Young is most known for Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998-2001) and most recently  as Detective Barry Frost on TNT's Rizzoli & Isles. 

When Young didn't show up for filming they asked that someone check on him. He was found dead by his landlord on Monday morning. Lee Thompson Young was 29. 

Lee came back from his hiatus as high school football star Chris Comer in 2004's Friday Night Lights movie. You might also remember him as Devon in 2006's Akeelah and the Bee. He also appeared in TV shows The Guardian, South Beach, Scrubs and Smallville.

My condolences go out to his family especially his mother. I've always been a huge fan of his, I hoped to work with him one day. I'm deeply sadden by this news. I'm going to miss you Sleep in Peace Lee Thompson Young.

Do you remember Tyra B. ? Everybody thought she was MC Lytes daughter. She had two hits her first single " Country boy  ", the classic my fav " Still in Love " and the last time we heard from her was " Given me a Rush". ( it was hit though) 

Well she was always alil Tom boy and I see why now. Tyra B. is clearly an AG and shes out here looking like Julito from the wire. She's cute tho! 

Tyra B seems to be trying to make a come back and clearly with her own sense of style. She's released a 10 track mix tape called The Morning After. Her voice is amazing I think she should have a great come back.

I always wondered what happened to her, I'm glad she's coming back.

 There's a meme going around promoting having hoes isn't what's up anymore. My honest question is when was it ever ? From what we were all taught boy meets girl then comes marriage, where did the " having hoes " come into play? 

Whats funny is the pictures on the meme are all celebrities as if celebs just started having relationships. This meme just shows how much what a rapper does effects the masses. Jay Z and Beyonce have been together for years nobody was screaming this in '03. I don't wana hear the excuse of we were only 14 because that's only my age group (1989). I need to know what 18 and up was screaming in '03. 

This generation baffles me at times. The impact of the hip hop community is clearly greater than I thought. I can understand us following fashion and hair trends, but now relationship status'.

I know this doesn't apply to everyone but it shouldn't apply to anyone. This is what I see when I look on my Instagram. We're all old enough to realize we're only getting older its about that time to start looking for somebody to lock it down with. Remember don't rush that's something we can definitely learn from a celeb!

OMG: Raz B on Life Support after club fight!

Demario " Raz B " Thornton formally of the teen sensation B2K is currently in a coma at a hospital in China. Raz B was smashed in the face with a bottle at a nightclub Thursday night.  

According to TMZ Raz B tried to break up a fight which caused him to be hit. He was rushed to the hospital to attend to his wound which was only a gash in his lip. The next day ( today ) he didn't wake up.

The doctors have done brain test and this isn't a playful matter. Those close to Raz B say he's on a ventilator and slipping in and out of consciousness. 

No matter what has happened in the past years. B2K was a huge part of mine and many others childhood. I'm sadden by this news, all the anger I had for him is null in void. I'm praying for you Raz B Please get well soon. 

P.S. Demario this is the second time you've hurt yourself in China first you almost cut your hand off now this!! Please get better and stop going back!!!

Cassidy replies to Kendrick's Control verse!

So Barry decided to make a reply to Kendrick's Control verse. Though he wasn't mentioned on the track, my fav rapper is like me we don't care!!

Fans are like where did Cassidy come from? But they follow up with He went hard tho! Um it's Cassidy this is what he does. Just don't get him to try to make a commercial album that might not work. They don't call him BARS for no reason! It's so effortless. Like I said mentioned or not from NYC or not. That verse is supposed to make every rapper want to reply. If hip hop aint dead I'ma need more of these replies and less twitter post!
